Victory to cricket with the return of the Izaara cricket fiesta 2023
The IZAARA CRICKET FIESTA made a triumphant and thrilling comeback last weekend after a hiatus of three years. The grounds of the Ceylon Sports Club came alive with cheers and much anticipated cricket action as 16 teams contested for glory displaying some remarkable sportsmanship and cricketing prowess .
The 11th edition of the Izaara Cricket Fiesta 2023 was indeed an exhilarating cricketing event under the Izaara Cup cricket series. Held on the 11th &12th of March 2023 at iconic Ceylon Sports club this 2 day event saw 16 teams contest for the coveted Izaara Cup.
The heavens smiled with beautiful clear blue skies and sunshine at this fantastic group of sportsmen who had gathered to play the 11th edition of the Izaara cup 2023.
The tournament is a earmarked event on Singapore’s cricket calendar since its inception in 2010 and this much awaited edition brought in cheer, networking & camaraderie, as the players bonded as teams ,with the common passion and goal to play cricket and win the Cup.
Teco Maritime -Winners of the Izaara Cup 2023
You can’t expect a better finish to the 11th edition of the Izaara Cup .TECO Maritime pulled off a thrilling finish in the final overs (winning by 2 wickets and 2 balls to spare) to win the coveted trophy. Put into bowling first, TECO Maritime did fairly well but conceded 49 runs in a tight 6 overs game. Some hard hitting from Tamil Thalaivas skipper & openers Ramesh Kalimuthu (20 of 13) and Vasu Selvam (21 of 13) entertained the crowds with long sixes and fours. Chasing 50 to win, TECO had a disastrous start loosing their top 6 batsman for a poultry score of 23 runs in 4 overs. Saving the best for the last, two young chaps and the last pair from TECO Maritime Ila Maran (18 of 7) and Nikhil Garg (11 of 5) took TECO Maritime to the finishing line with some hard hitting sixes and fours, winning comfortably with 2 balls to spare.
TECO Maritime is known for their flamboyant and spirited performance, but this time added lot more zeal and energy to the tournament and showed their grit and fighting attitude.
K-Line Warriors -Winners of the Izaara Plate 2023
A team that has been a part of the Izaara family for the past decade.
Earlier than the finals, (59-0) won their game against class (54-2) comfortably and ended with the PLATE Winners of the Izaara Cup Tournament. This was definitely one of their best performances of the tournament. A big cheers to the spirited K-line Warriors.
Rusted anchors-winners of the Izaara Shield 2023
Rusted Anchors, a team put together for the Izaara Cup, demonstrated a very energetic and spirited performance in the Izaara Cup. Beating United XI in the quarter finals by 7 wickets, they secured their placed to secure the SHIELD Trophy at the Izaara Cup. A big cheers to the clearly not rusted anchors!!

This lively tournament always sees some prolific play, with fours and sixes raining form the bats and an impressive display of tight bowling and fielding. The bar goes up a notch higher each year, and this year was no different.
As the bar is raised each year the teams get better and stronger with each tournament ,ensuring that the competitive yet congenial atmosphere of the Izaara Cup is kept alive, year after year.
Izaara Cup 2023 is deeply appreciative to all the sixteen teams who participated in this tournament. With all your support and well wishes, we will be back next year with more cricket and more fun. Izaara extends a special welcome to the new teams who joint us this edition.
